I know there's the concentration bug that's been around a while, where logging out and back in fixes your inability to cast spells like you should. Dunno if this is related or not.

A vet level hellion that cant cast rift (even sitting) because of not enough concentration. Under no ill affects, no other spells held.

I can however cast hellfire (a higher level expert spell) and all the lower ones that I tried.

Logging out and back in did not solve this. Suggestions?

What is your int and have you tried sitting down?

This could be a few things. My main thoughts are the ints for both characters are different. If you have a 20 int and the veteran hellion only has a 10 int, there is no way in the world the veteran hellion will have a chance.

Please be more clear... withouth more information, we have no way of figuring out your problem.

sleeper

Edit: I just saw your post. Likely, its just because the int isn't high enough.

I think it is your int then. Go find some int items and equip them then try again. Some lower level spells do require greater concentration to cast than others. I had warlock that at one period in time couldn't conjure his elemental but could cast cone of cold.

I'm not speaking of two diffrent characters, not sure where that came from. If it was from the mention of hellfire, I'm still meaning this character, (trained hellfire early)

As for it being the INT, I woudn't swear to it since I haven't played the char in a while, but I think I used to be able to cast rift. I'll see if I can get someone to load me with +int stuff and see what happens.

Rift would certainly require more concentration than Hellfire. Being able to cast Hellfire is pretty much unrelated to your problem.

My initial opinion is NO. If you are a casting class you need to be about brilliant to cast all of your magics with you holding no other spells

Alright. 15 int appears to be enough to cast it standing. However, I am unable to cast it standing while holding Detect Invis. So, I'm guessing you need around a 14 int to cast it while standing. You have a 13 or lower int would be my guess.

On the topic of hellfire... Totally unrelated. The level of the spell has no direct effect on the concentration required.
