Don't know if this happens to anyone else, but whenever I get into the forums, I can see the icons that show there are new posts in whatever forums, but after I enter one forum to read the new posts, when I come back to the index, everything is marked as read. This is without using the link that does that for you, just so you know I'm not THAT dense, and I'm using the subSilver format. |

I have a slightly different bug - which may be related. There are many times I've gone into a forum, read the topics I wanted, and marked the rest read that I didn't care for, only to go back into it 5 minutes later, and still have all of the same ones unread. (Without any new posts)... sleeper |

Alshain would be able to answer this better than me, but it sounds like a web browser problem. Do you have cookies disabled? I'm pretty sure they are required. Also what web browser are you using? I know that Internet Explorer ought to work fine. |

I use Firefox 1.5 (I'm using RC 2 until I can take a moment later today to upgarde it to 1.5). When I had Firefox 1.5 RC1 it worked just fine. I don't think I saw this bug until forumID was implemented, but I could be mistaken. Either way, I'll upgrade to 1.5, and let you know if I still get this bug. sleeper |

The forums haven't changed at all. All forumID does is remotely add you to an existing phpBB forum group. It sounds like a browser bug. |

It's certainly not forumID. I've had topic-marking problems from day one with forumPHP. Three things helped resolve the problem for me: switching to Firefox (which makes me grimace, because MS pays my bills), checking the box to log in automatically, and opening SK in Firefox long enough to read the forums, and close it again. Anytime I use Internet Explorer, fail to check the automatic logon box, and refresh the browser, all topics are instantly marked read. Hopefully this "workaround" will prevent some of the rest of you from missing the meaningful discussion generated on every thread these forums produce. Or something like that. |

I'm on Snail O L , but it's not a browser problem here because I can run other PHP forums just fine. |

I vaguely recall another time I heard a problem like this reported, I think it has something to do with accessing the forums through an alias on your address bar. Verify that your address bar starts like: http://www.shatteredkingdoms.org/forums/* |

Yes, indeed - do the following: 1. Clear your browser cache 2. Delete your cookies, or at least all the ones that are related to SK 3. Make sure you use http://www.shatteredkingdoms.org/forums as the start of your URL 4. Enable the 'Log me in automatically' box, if you can One of the most common causes, for me, was when using a tabbed browser (eg, Maxthon or Firefox), make sure you complete the login sequence in one tab before launching all the other tabs -- hitting the forums twice in quick succession will cause you to login twice, which means your last login time will be about 1 second prior to your current login, during which time there have been no new posts. This 'most common' explanation can sometimes apply to people who have don't use tabbed browsing but haven't met the item (3) requirement, hence the first link you click on in our forums cause you to login again [because the cookie used at login was stored using a different URL than the URL used in all our links]. Just a guess. |
