I don't know if it is a bug or feature but shouldn't a person be able to shoot a fireball through a barred window or murder hole with only a range element? Cast Fireball north 1 eg. This doesn't work right now as it stands

Yeah, it works. I was obliterated by it last night, when Meokil used that on all my undead. His log clearly shows him using that exact syntax...

I think he might be talking about the other way. Into a murder hole rather than out from. No idea if it actually is different.

Well, I wish I had the log but at least I couldn't do it in front of the Imperial gates. I tried all of the murder holes and it just gave me some sort of message that I needed a target or something. Although, I did type it just the way I did.

I believe the issue here is lack of visable target in the room. Lakir made a post about this a while ago. If it is dark, or midnighted on the other side of the midnight hole, C fireball w 1 will come back with a "There are not targets" response, even if they are there, but unseen. You should be able to fireball the ground even if you can't see anyone in that area.

No, you can still fireball midnight. By imperial gates you mean up murder holes in Losache, or are there murder holes in MEnegroth? If its menegroth, then you -can't- fireball ranged in wilderness.

If there are NO targets visible or non-visible you will get that message.

If there are targets, even if you cannot see them the fireball will shoot off and burninate whatever you can and cannot see.

Wudan is right, I posted this exact same question some time back and played around with invis/hidden NPC's without detects up.

If anything is in the room, it'll go.
