Okay, so I'm holding no spells, not spelled up at all by anything...not even attacking....and I can't concentrate on flamestrike? Int: Brilliant. makes no sense.

AND WHAT IS WITH POSSUMS AND FROGS being incredibly strong in the Chancel and owning you in six rounds???? AND THEYRE AGGRO! THEY CON WEAKER THAN STUMPY HALFLINGS!

Chancel is still too easy for a levelling area and too rewarding for its risks.

Sounds like you have been affected by the mystery concentration bug. No one knows exactly how it works or how to reproduce it (there is an XP reward for anyone who works it out if I am not mistaken because then D can look at fixing it). Logging out and back in fixes it in the short term. Seeing as you said you where not doign any of thise things fighting a lot of people (lowing your ability to concentrate three or more is a significant amount), under another affect like Frenzy lowing your concentration ability.
From my experience of the concentration bug it only seems to happen when you have spells on more than one target (yourself and a pet for example).

As for the possums and frogs not a bug keep on your toes and away from deadly things.

possums and the such are so that you don't get complacent.

Probably the concentration bug.

I'll have to agree. Morea was a riskier place to level than the Chancel was. :/

I'll happily trudge through the game code attempting to find this error.

Edit: Yes, you got hit with the concentration bug. Log out and log back in, and you should be fine.

Yea, but Morea had the novelty of fytrysks and how elite they were/are. A careless or unlucky char walks/encounters a fytrysk, has a heart-pouding chase only to flee the wrong direction and die. Then all the friends he asks to come retrieve his corpse die. Then the high level sorc who comes gets spam bashed to death in his polymorph. And finally, a real GM shows up and kills it.

But at least you had a good story, and could say "I got killed by a demon from another plane while valiantly fighting the evil below Morea!"

vs.

"I got killed by a rat while I was beating up some halflings."

So would D. The problem is where to look. I'll post a 2-level reward to the person who can identify the cause.

Areas to check include anything that affects your concentration - bash, wearing the wrong type of equipment, certain spells wearing off, releasing spells in a certain order, no-magic rooms removing affects, being bashed or fighting multiple opponents, and many others. Even age-related changes in INT and concentration might be influencing factors.

Oh, and to the ambitions: Too bad if you're GM - this reward will not make you an immortal. :)

Can we save it for a future character?
