I'm gonna [REDACTED], so feel free to flame my sorry [REDACTED]...But how the hell can you gate into a room which you can't even cast spells while inside said room? This is utterly stupid and I for one hate it.

The Quyling Liquid Dispensory.
  You are standing in a round room with a large stone counter against the
west wall.  Behind the counter a number of narrow pipes spit odd colored
liquids.
Obvious exits: e gate
     (Magical) A magical gate glowing with red energy leads elsewhere.

(Dark Aura) A spined naga slithers here, sharp claws hanging from all four arms.
(Dark Aura) Quyling is here washing stone glasses.
Delleny exits out of a magical gate.
A furry panda exits out of a magical gate.
Yurie exits out of a magical gate.
A flying serpent exits out of a magical gate.
The Quyling punches at Yurie's right leg, causing a sore wound.
Yurie dodges the Quyling's attack.
The Quyling punches at Yurie's left leg, causing a sore wound.
The Quyling punches at Yurie's left arm, tearing open a big bleeding wound!
Yurie dodges the Quyling's attack.

[HP: 100%] [ME:  67%] [PE: 100%] [Wealth: zero]

A spined naga slices at your chest, causing a deep gash.
A spined naga slices at your left arm, tearing open a big bleeding wound!
A spined naga slices your chest, causing a gaping wound!

A spined naga dodges your attack.
Yurie slices at the Quyling's chest, barely scratching it.
The Quyling dodges Yurie's attack.
A flying serpent misses the Quyling.
Delleny stabs the Quyling's face, slightly puncturing its cheek.
The Quyling quickly jumps out of the way as a furry panda kicks dirt into the air.
The Quyling punches at Yurie's right arm, tearing open a big bleeding wound!
The Quyling punches at Yurie's left leg, tearing through a muscle!
Yurie's shield blocks the Quyling's attack.
The Quyling punches at Yurie's stomach, bashing a deep gash.
Yurie dodges the Quyling's attack.
You double over as a spined naga's thrashing tail strikes you!
You dodge a spined naga's attack.
You dodge a spined naga's attack.
Overall, a spined naga is in excellent condition.

Feature.

Quite a few rooms allow transportation inside while they are no magic areas.

For example you can be summoned away from said room.

Live and learn from your mistakes.

It the easy way in for those that don't know the actual way in.

The No Magic area flag and the No Transportation area flag are two different ones to my understanding.

So since this room is flagged "No Magic" you cannot cast inside it.
While it's not flagged "No Transportation" you can gate in, or be summoned out.

If i have it right it's as simple as that.

That's pretty much close enough to explain it.

Think of gate as a ranged spell. As such you can cast it into a no magic area, just as you could a magic missile or a fireball, for example, but you can't cast it out of one.

The real way in, you're likely to get teleported before you reach it, unless builders removed that "feature" of the area. :P

Hard as hell to remember how to get in, but you can get in through non-magical transport, although you do need other spells to get in.

You can't stand in the adjacent room and cast spells into it. However, you can form a gate.

The alternative is most undesirable.
