You mount a silver-winged pegasus, and start riding him.

A silver-winged pegasus starts to fly.

Ok.

You ride a silver-winged pegasus south.

The Maw
This simple rocky platform extends out over the great chasm in full view
of the plaza.  There are no chains or rope to protect wanderers from the
edge, looming over the blackness below.  At the edge itself there is a
cast-iron rail to which a chain is attached, as if to tether someone or
something to it.  Stains of what appear to be dried blood coat the area.
From here, the void below bellows ominously with hot gusts of stale air.
Obvious exits: n s
A pile of black cloth has been left here.
A thick wooden club has been left here.
( 8) A scrumptious looking steak is here.
(Charmed) A silver-winged pegasus is flying here mounted by you.
An imposing ogre stands here, his head covered in a black hood.
A downtrodden troglodyte servant is here, tending to the hall.
A broken orcish slave is huddled here nervously.

Over the chasm
You are soaring over the chasm, the sheer blackness of it stretching on
beyond sight.  The edges of the cavern wall can be made out a bit at your
eye level, but below is a featureless void, much as if standing upon a
perfectly pitch black floor.  The sounds of the wind twisting and writhing
in the depths reverberate from below, sending gusts of humid air upwards on
occasion, carrying with it a putrid stench.

A rusty iron platform
This platform has been constructed quite shoddily.  The thin rails have
been ruggedly-welded to the frail frame of it, and even then not all that
firmly as they squeak and screech under the motion.  The supports that hold
this rickety thing into place look far too weak to be of any safe use, and
the grated iron flooring of the platform gives a clear, yet uneasy view into
the void of the chasm below.

A silver-winged pegasus stops flying.
You dismount from a silver-winged pegasus.
You have been KILLED!!

I was flying on my pegasus so all I can say is WTF. If this is a bug it should be fixed because it sucks.

The script probably checks whether -you-, the PC, are flying or not. But yes, agreed. It ought to be fixed.

HAHAH! That still isn't fixed? I bug logged that ages ago.

I have done the same with a pegasus fine before, without being killed. Where you just sitting there for the script to run and kill you?

It seems so because he stucked 5 commands to move south. The fifth one was above the platform. :-?

If you are lucky and have many hps, you can get yourself a pair of mangled legs and survive.

I was talking on the phone and didn't even notice what happened. That's why I was spamming directions. I wasn't paying attention.

This keeps coming up, When I talked to an Imm about it I was told to go to hell and that is was not a bug just a bad script writer that does not check if you are flying or not.

1. You were literally told to 'go to hell?' How recently was this? :-?

2. I looked at the room after Orac posted it, and you are incorrect when you say it "does not check if you are flying." I don't know why anyone would have told you this anyway.

3. That having been said, my n00b [REDACTED] hasn't come up with a way to solve the *actual* problem yet. We'll see.

The room should be equipped with a level 50 dispel magic spell, to kill bypassers that even have the fly spell.

This can't be fixed until I add a new scripting function that also checks to see if you are riding a flying mount when determining if you are flying.
