Please forgive a newbie if this is understood by others, but it was confusing to me:

A banker stands here ready to help you.

> take all.silver knap
You get 8 silver coins from a deep green knapsack.
You get 129 silver coins from a deep green knapsack.

> deposit 100 silver
Transaction: 100 copper coins in amount.
You give 1 gold coins to the banker.

Turns out, it only took ten silver (100 copper) so it didn't cheat me, but it sure was confusing for a while, until I checked my inventory. Maybe add a warning in the help files?

all bank transactions are done in copper...

by typing 'Deposit 100 silver' The game read it as 'deposit 100' (copper)

So by typing deposit 100 you actually only deposited the 1 golds worth or a 100 copper.

Money is one of the most irritating aspects of the game.

10 copper = 1 silver
10 silver = 1 gold
10 gold = 1 platinum
10 platinum = 1 obsidian

It's based on a system of tens. When you go to deposit money in the bank, it automatically takes whatever coins you have the most of unless you're depositing exact change. (if you're depositing one gold coin and you only have one gold coin, for instance)

I -think- that's how it works.

PM if you have any other questions.

[Game help] bank

Syntax: balance
deposit <amount>
withdraw <amount>

Banks are located in some of the cities and larger towns in Shattered
Kingdoms. These institutions protect your hoardes of wealth, should you be
lucky enough to accumulate any, from pickpockets and thieves. Your money
remains safe in the bank even when you die (unless confiscated as penalty
by the law-keepers).

For any of these commands to work, you must be standing in a bank. The
amounts used by the banks are always given in copper coins. Worth will
tell you, at a glance, the amount of money in your inventory (as well as
your progress towards the next level).

Looks like your question has pretty much been answered. But I'll add a side note to it.

Whenever your unsure about something (especially how a command works) go ahead and check out the help files. If it only has one argument to the command (e.g. deposit <amount> where deposit is the command and <amount> is the argument) means that you can type whatever you want afterwards, but the game only sees the first argument. Keep that in mind if something doesn't quite work the way you think it should.
