You walk northeast.
You step into a snare and are suddenly pulled off your feet!
A clanging bell announces that a snare has been set off.
You cut yourself free.

A recently cleared section of forest
The forest has been partially cleared here, leaving a rows of
prfpp unevenly-short stumps, broken off at various heights. Bramble,
pr*Ff deadfall, and rustling, dead leaves make passage difficult.
p?rfF Large wedges of lichen and spotted toadstools are already
feasting on what remains of the downed wood, and dying stumps. A
footpath is visible in the soft soil, leading northeast. The bend in the
river here makes forging to the southwest quite easy. It's mostly clear,
hot, and there is absolutely no wind.

A scout can put up to 4 snares in the wild in one room. It fails a lot but if they are willing to spend the time to do it... wait that sounds oddly familiar.
