Post subject: Incorrect NPC flags? (Taslamaran guards)
PostPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2007 5:53 pm
now, I'm under the impression that paladin law NPCs can't see hidden. This is a natural, balanced weakness because they get all these anti-darkie spells.

Well, I walk by plenty of the same NPC, then suddenly:

Quote:
> You walk east.

West Karaxia Street
You are on a narrow, cobbled street running east and west through the
city of Exile. Tall houses of timber-framed wattle and daub rise on
either side of the road, leaning inwards progressively as they rise,
shading the street below.
The houses on the north are large and spacious, their dark timbers well
maintained, the plastered wattle panels freshly white-washed. The north
side of the city is clearly favoured by the rich and ennobled of the
kingdom.
It's raining lightly, cool, and very, very windy.
Obvious exits: e s w
A Peacekeeper templar is here, his stern face watchful.
A large black horse soars in from the west.

Ardonia is nearby south from here.
[HP:100%] [ME: 79%] [PE: 97%]
> You see West Karaxia Street.
A bardic trainee is nearby east from here.
A Peacekeeper templar, a Peacekeeper, a freeman of Exile and a Peacekeeper templar are not too far off east from here.
A Peacekeeper and a bard are fairly far east from here.

West Karaxia Street
You are on a narrow, cobbled street running east and west through the
city of Exile. Tall houses of timber-framed wattle and daub rise on
either side of the road, leaning inwards progressively as they rise,
shading the street below.
The cobbles are worn and smooth underfoot, in many places rutted by
wheel and cracked by hoof, their condition witness to the weight of
traffic the stones have borne across the years. The road descends in a
gradual slope to the west; close to the east it opens out into a wide,
crowded square.
It's raining lightly, cool, and very, very windy.
Obvious exits: e w
A Peacekeeper templar is here, his stern face watchful.
A Peacekeeper is here, patrolling the city.
A freeman of Exile is here, going about his daily business.
A Peacekeeper templar is here, his stern face watchful.
A large black horse soars in from the west.
A Peacekeeper templar exclaims 'Halt, lawbreaker!'
A Peacekeeper templar exclaims 'You shall pay for your crimes!'
You parry a Peacekeeper templar's attack.
You dodge a Peacekeeper templar's attack.
A Peacekeeper templar exclaims 'Halt, lawbreaker!'
A Peacekeeper templar exclaims 'You shall pay for your crimes!'
You step out of the shadows.
A Peacekeeper templar slashes your chest, cutting a small but painful wound.

Yet somehow, those two templars can see me? None of them should be able to. And they aren't bounty-hunters either.

Should it be this way?

Why do you say they are not bounty hunters? Bounty hunters in taslamar are called templars. The paladins that hang out all the time are called sentinels.

They didn't walk into my room and I just bypassed another one of the same mobile earlier. It's only select templars, too.

I bypass this one, no problem, looks just like the other ones:

I don't think these are bhunter's, those have a different action to them, I believe. And if they -are- bhunter's, then can they have a different action/name to them?

That's why I'm posting here, trying to discern what the difference is. In every other kingdom, they differences between standard guards and bhunters are quite obvious.

There is no difference between the bounty hunters and the templars. I tried to get them changed while I was Peacekeeper leader but nobody wanted to change them.

That's rather pooty.

All bounty-hunters should be of similar strength. I like how I can tear through Taslamar's BH's, or Ayamao's, but get my junk ruined by Krychire's or Zhenshi's.

And, the Midnight guards are utter crap.

You change your mind too fast. And I agree, Taslamar's bounty hunters shouldn't be called templars.

My char comes with spell called 'hellfire' and they are centaur mobiles. That's why I say that.

They are still very overpowered for what Ayamao represents, overall, however. All guards need a tonedown.

I think that Hellfire is not that much fire (elemental) damage, as much as negative energy damage as far as I have checked.
