So I'm wielding a reaching weapon, in formation behind a tank type guy. The combat rounds below show that I am already engaged with the NPC. I'm also able use trip without an argument, which directs it against my current melee target.

Why was the second trip counted as aggressive, especially since I had no such issue with the first one?

This is a bug with sanc and not trip, because missing a bash and standing to bash again mid-combat also breaks a sanc.

When you use a command to start a fight, you lose sanctuary.

When you're on your butt due to bash or trip, you're not fighting.

When you type a command 'during combat' after being bashed or tripped, the code thinks you're starting combat and blows away your sanctuary.

Solution:
"Fighting" status should be separate from "Sitting".

Caveat on the above: I'm not a coder & haven't seen the code.

I personally think a better solution would be to not make someone rest when tripped/bashed

I think the three rounds of lag is enough without having to stand after you just spammed commands and end up dieng.

Bad idea. I like the resting thing when you get bashed for the 1.5 dmg taken by the bashed. Makes sense.

Easy fix for the sanc thing...

Stand up..

...wait a round untill auto assist makes you attack again...

trip as regular.

Introduce a new situation like 'fallen' for failed bashes and trips?

like :

'TheJanitor is on the ground, struggling to get on his feet'

or something

This "bug" has been around since I started playing 6 years ago. Just don't try to trip until you get out of combat!

Yea it has. It's been around so long I didn't think it was a bug.
