So here I am. Finally my job got less demanding for a period and I found time to play sk. So of course I start getting back some EQ and as I am geared to my desire I log off last night (friday) in safety.... when I log on monday morning all my EQ has been stripped except some less rare eq. WHY?! |

oh yea... so there is punisment for gearing up before a monthly reboot. hooray for code integrity |

There was no punishment involved. This is no mystery. This is part of SK code as long as I've played. MOTD wrote: Characters with more than 30 days of inactivity may be deleted without notice. Storage characters will be castrated.

I think you misunderstood my argument. The problem is that if you return to the mud to play a character that has been inactive for some time just before a monthly reboot, you do not have the ability to put in the hours needed to keep your eq gathered in that space of time. Which makes it a somewhat harsh comeback -- especially when you do not know when this is going to happen. Hence me expandin my argument by saying there i a lack of code integrity. |

So what would be best, if there were an announcement to players before an update? I could see that helping, so you'd know when the coast is clear. |

Sorry that happened to you, but I think it's unavoidable. The best way to deal with it is to concentrate on reconnecting with your peers in the game through roleplaying for awhile instead of trying to hunt down an elite kit right away. |

While I condone that idea, I can see how it was less of an opportunity for him though. He plays in the same timezone as me, meaning that when he logged on, there probably weren't more than a handful of european players on, leveling low level chars. |

Too low a lvl to keep alot of the gear, probably, so he lost a peice or two at each reboot. |

What I am asking for is a more intelligent eq stripping script. It might even have variables taking care of those who log their chars only to sit around without any interaction what-so-ever, for the purpose of not losing their loot - the real pain in the arse storage chars. |
