Okay so, I'm serious when I say this, I've seen it happen to myself personally and in other logs.

Auto summon and auto surrender are just randomly changing their own flags. I've had characters where I've never turned auto summon on have it on randomly, and the same with auto surrender.

I've also seen logs where it's been changed -right- before someone has went into enemy territory, and heard numerous reports of these settings changing without any player ever doing it.

I have no real idea what the cause may be (Perhaps some quirk of system reboots, or some sort of log off/on, tick code, or something) but if anyone, be it IMMs, Dulrik or other players, has any ideas, I'd love to see them.

This DOES happen.

I had to be broken out of jail because some noob summoned me, and my auto summon was set to allowable EVEN THOUGH I keep that crap, with a healthy amount of paranoia, off.

To add to the crapiness, I was set to auto surrender for some reason. The worst part was hearing said noob gloat ICly.

AGONIZING.

You're best bet is to start showing logs with it off, and then where you get summoned and it turns itself on... D likely will have a tough time fixing the problem if he doesn't know where it's at. :P

I would just check it at every log on. I've only had it change at logon/off.

Actually, when auto summon is ON is when you're safe from being summoned. You've all been saying you keep it off, which means you'd be open to a summon.

I haven't personally had a problem with auto summon switching to off or auto surrender switching to on when I haven't toggled it myself, but I've heard of it happening before. The best way to get this fixed is to keep logging as much as possible and hope that it happens so you can send that log to an Imm for appraisal.

[idea] Change the name of auto summon to auto nosummon. Similar to auto noyell. When I was a new player I used to read the description next to it just to make sure that I was picking the right one because it was confusing. It makes more sense to me to be protected when auto nosummon is on.

another idea would be to set these switches to reset to 'not surrendering' and 'not accepting summons' at logout.

That way, when you want to be summoned or when you want to surrender, you just have to remember to issue the command.

I'm okay if auto summon and auto surrender default to the standard positions on logout. That is, you resist summons and refuse to surrender to authorities. Like auto newbie.

I've had some really, really strange things happen lately.

Such as I know I was behind a pet and I got dirt kicked, taunted, and my attacker was not using a reach weapon but never fought my pet.

I was mode stun prior to that, after I was raised, it seems I got set to mode kill and sorta killed someone (sorry someone!).

It seems like a lot of things are being switched and messed up.

I recently found my auto summon off and I know I had not been messing with it but I thought to check it for some odd reason.

I've experienced this changing against my will as well, though I can't give any specific examples of what happened.
