As it is now, even if you succeed in the first try, the NPC instantly runs off to report you. This is opposed by charm person, where if you succeed your first cast, and then release the NPC again, it will be completely unmoved by the fact that you just had it charmed. This bug/feature with persuade really really limits the use of the skill in conjunction with getting buffs from NPC's. Perhaps it could be looked into, or else clarification could be given whether or not it is working as intended. |

It is theoretically a feature. I have complained about this a lot. Swashies can taunt you into combat all day long so you can get reported and yet you can't persuade anyone to do anything and still get reported. |

It's persuasion. You persuade the person into doing something! How is that illegal? |

My opinion of this is that when you (for example) persuade a NPC to kill a player or another NPC, you should be held responsible - much like you are the one who answers to the crimes your charmie/pet commits. However, when you persuade someone to (for example) cast armor on you, you shouldn't be able to get reported. Essentially, combat persuades should be reportable, non-combat ones shouldn't. |

"Officer! Officer! That man convinced me to kill that woman!" "Don't worry, sir, I'll protect you from that vicious law-breaker!" *thwacks bard* |

I am recognizing that persuade involves some supernatural part, so such a simple scenario doesn't quite work. Not to mention, once again, that balance should trump common sense. Ordering guards in an Inn to kill someone and just keep on sitting there smiling makes less sense than that scenario :/ Addendum: Help persuade wrote: the fusion of his fast talking
ability with a magical tongue. |

I don't think persuasion success rate is THAT big that it would cause a balance issue if this changed. I also think it's stupid that you can get outlawed for successfully PERSUADING someone to do anything. I do see how one can report you for the attempt once you fail, but if you successfully PERSUADE him to do something... makes no sense. |

Personally, I think any skill that involves an element of magical compulsion (i.e. no interaction on the part of the victim) should legally fall on the head of the aggressor. This includes charm person, taunt, persuade and anything else like them. "I win" skills and spells are contrary to the spirit of balance and beyond lame. |

It is utterly and completely mentally challenged that persuading a NPC, even if successful the first time, will instantly get you outlawed. I understand that it wasn't always this way, but that certain people got it changed by abuse. Given that precedent, and a certain other precedent as regards making appropriate changes to the way the game works, I wouldn't expect to see this mentally challenged state go away any time soon. |
