NPCs and pets are showing prone while they are in combat, but as soon as combat ends it goes away and is very confusing. It's due to the NPCs 'action', which overrides the prone action (For example, 'here, confidence in his step.'). That's why that only bugs out after combat and also with most NPCs. I've been meaning to make a bug thread about this but never have.
