If this is a feature, may I ask its explanation?

I heard there are herbs that can help with that.

Berserk fails like a mofo when you have 100% health. One of the reasons why this feature has been kept in effect, is that with the "new" bash changes, you can berserk while in combat regardless of the circumstance and thus keeping berserk + fury up at all times becomes less of an issue for the barbarian that want to be prepared.

Actually, considering the massive heal you get when you do berserk, doing so in combat, from a PVP perspective at least, will be better altogether.

For PVE, i.e. being able to keep up fury and berserk reliably without taking damage from anything, that is assuming you're not the tank of a group, there are a couple of nifty tricks that I've used to some success, throw me a PM if you want them.

Additionally, skills (unlike spells) have a chance to fail even at mastered.

I noticed myself that it was much easier to berserk when I was low enough such that the heal granted by the berserk wasn't enough to put me over 100% HP.

Same with fury: If I was high enough on HP for fury to put me at or past 100%, it seemed that the chances of me furying decreased greatly (Even while it wasn't mastered, I furied at least 90% of the time if I was low enough on HP).

That may or may not be the metric that matters in the situation, but I can say with certainty that either having a racing pulse, being in combat, or having low HP affects the probability of berserk/fury, if not all three: As can be noticed by your quote.

Also, even mastered skills can fail sometimes. I've failed a mastered scrolls check before (Although only once).

I fail at swim and a certain cabal skill every so often, both being mastered. It has the possibility to fail every once and a while no matter what, because it checks at every room.

Of course, there are always extenuating circumstances that can make even mastered skills much less likely to succeed...
