Ok, I'm Master 2 on My Priest, Int and Wis Maxxed and I have been using a mace since apprentice.. and I am still GOOD at it? Is there something that I'm missing to improve that skill?

How often do you actually beat the NPC over the head with your mace? Unless it's a pole-mace, I venture to say you spend more of your time attacking via spells behind a pet and not using your blunt weapon.

a) wis has no effect on how quickly skills increase
b) you're only getting two attacks, if that
c) if you've been using it since apprentice, flamestrike/SoF have been your primary hitters for most of that time

i always found skill increases to come incredibly slowly from pole-maces, and i assumed this to be a reflection of pole-mace speed; pole-maces only get 1.5ish attacks. get a faster mace, make sure you're not in defensive (you want your full 2 attacks), don't keep a pet in the front row.

it will still go slowly, but you should be at superb after an hour or two of consistent fighting without spellcasting.

Have somebody that has it mastered or close to it mentor you first. That'll really speed things up.

Thanks, I was behind a pet for most of it, since she is a cloth healer. Just found it odd that I didn't progress much. Thanks for all the input!!

Yeah, you actually have to hit with the weapon to get a skill increase. Each time you make an attack, you get a chance at an improvement. Ask a mentor about a pole-mace if you're worried about it. If not, just keep on castin' and ignore those worthless weapon skills. :P
