Okay notice the concentration required. It's rather minimal. I can sing -and- dance with only smart (base int with NO int mods) up to a jman song, songs of counter. Now, heres hte interesting thing.

Notice my character is charmed and has -considerably- more intelligence. I have enough int mods that I -should- be able to sing and dance on pretty much all of my songs. Int at this point is completely maxed, or at least at 17 which is only 3 from max (figured out that charm gives a -3 intelligence hit through a bit of modding) So what happens when the charmer orders my character?

xxx orders you to 'sing dark '.
You begin to sing.
You sing: My song is one of helping,

< HP: 100 Mana: 100 Energy: 100 Time: 3am
North Gate of Nerina >
You sing: Fight the war against the good.

< HP: 100 Mana: 97 Energy: 100 Time: 4am
North Gate of Nerina >
xxx orders you to 'dance'.
You can't concentrate enough to dance. <---No reason for this with max nit on an amateur song

If you notice i'm singing a song of protection, an -amateur- rated song which requires the least amount of concentration of any of the sung songs, yet I can't dance. My intelligence is brilliant. Without the charm, i'm able to perform both of the above actions with only 14 intelligence yet with -at least- 17 intelligence, i can't? It doesn't really make sense unless charm has a hidden penalty to concentration as well, in which case is a massive massive penalty seeing as I can't do minimal actions.

If it were songs of silence or sleep, I could understand since they take a lot of concentration, yet these are amateur and novice songs.

Tell me you guys thoughts on this. Bug? Or perhaps a feature so sorcs can charm themselves a mana battery?

a couple things:

- rank has absolutely no relation to concentration required. that said, as with any spell, more powerful = more concentration, thus the problem with counter
- singing + dancing requires a lot of concentration, regardless of the song
- per above, smart int is (imho) quite low for a bard
- you didn't post your release list for either circumstance
- not all debuffs are reflected in the character sheet (no idea if this is the case for charm person)
- the int debuff on charm person (i've never tested this, because if i'm charmed that's not what i care about) likely varies with the level of the spell, so i'm highly wary of your -3 conclusion

probably not a bug, but very hard to say given what you've provided

Charm lowers concentration more than the INT drop would suggest. QED. And Sal, a bard can't maintain any release list whatsoever 8)

Depends on race.

What Konge said: Charm lowers your intelligence -and- your concentration, similar to how frenzy lowers your concentration except much worse, and even if you even out the INT loss with mods, the lowest concentration skill/spell is huge when charmed. Also, you only have nimble dex, so dancing does require a decent amount of concentration compared to just singing songs: You should try having him haste you and then see if you can dance to songs of healing.

the way i came to the conclusion was i was charmed with base intelligence (which is 14) it knocked me down to dim status. After that, I added mods until i reached smart. 2 cyans (+2) then it was at smart. Removed one and it was at dim, added one that adds +1 to int and it was at smart again so lessee, moronic would be 1-5 i think. Dim would be 6-10 points smart would be 11. so...okay charm would be -6 int more in likely then i believe. since 11-3 = 8 and 14-8 = 6.

So yeah -6 int. Wow that's quite a hit. I completely botched the math there somehow on the above.

As for dex and bards, from what i've come to notice, dex doesn't affect concentration, at least not from what i've seen. It may come into play when dancing vs multiple NPCs and whatnot, but for the most part it seems to be purely int related like concentration with spells. With songs, it also boils down to the status of them as well. Amateur songs simply take less concentration than songs of sleep, so in that log and when charmed notice my int is still brilliant so that has to be at least 16 there. More than enough to be able to sing and dance with probably anything up to songs of sleep / silence.

I thought frenzys concentration drop was related to int as well. I find it odd though that a spell would affect your concentration like that, even when the int is modded.

The question i ask, is why? Look at taunt and it's int hit. It has up to a -6 int hit as well i believe ? (when taunted twice i hear they stack) but can be modded over. So the question is, why does taunt not also have a concentration hit on top of the int hit? Make sense? I'm a bit tired, so apologies. It, to me, makes no sense as to why the spell is like that.
