Paroling a character and then removing said parole resets the timespan for the crime, and causes the character to suffer the bank / equipment penalty a second time.

Removing and reinstating parole should not reset the length of sentence nor cause more confiscation.

I agree.

This really ruins one of the few tools available for constructive roleplay with criminals who wish to participate in the legal system.

More than that, it's the landscape of a very abusable set of code. You can keep a character in jail indefinitely by paroling and then unparoling them before the sentence is commuted.

I'm now paying twice for the same crime.

I agree, it should not be able to abused like that. I would be willing to wager anyone who does abuse it would suffer consequences as well.

Well, to be fair, in my circumstance, it was somewhat accidental, and I only lost about 30 minutes due to the tribunal leaders losing connectivity.

But I'd think it should be a hole that should be closed, if possible.

Also.

Please take parole off a timer. Don't let crimes roll off into oblivion when given enough time, paroled. Doing so negates the intent and use of unparole.

At least, it's my understanding that once you've been paroled long enough, breaking the law again with a fresh crime will not bring back your paroled crimes. Correct?

It's just like Being on Parole IRL:

After you wait awhile you will get off and be out of trouble. o_O

If you don't want to give someone a chance to do good in your city and clear their name, then don't parole them. It's as easy as that.

I also see something highly funny: Grep posts agreeing to this, and then the next day abuses it.

I'm just in favor of a more hardline approach.

Like, any crime committed within 2-3 years of paroled crimes rolling off active-wanted, brings them all back.

So maybe increase the timer if not totally removing it.

Or.

We could just pardon people and rely on a RAP Sheet System for the extra stuff.
