There are certain aggressive undead (e.g., Sesspyrian ghouls) that can be released to engage enemies in PK. Yes, they walk off after a tic or two, but that's plenty of time for two of these things to do a lot of damage (they have all of their abilities re-activated and even track enemies until they "walk off").

Unless I'm missing something, this allows necromancers to kill people without legal repercussions in addition to the other obvious advantages.

Weren't aggressive charms changed a while back (read: 5 years ago or so) to prevent just this kind of thing? Or was that change meant more to prevent long term drop-offs of aggro NPCs in high-traffic areas?

I think this should be changed so that undead, once controlled, lose their aggressive flag until they walk off.

This has been mentioned a couple times before and it isn't considered a bug. It will probably not get changed on account of that.
The sessprian ghouls aren't too terrible though, unless you aren't expecting it. But that goes for a lot of things.

That said, I wouldn't mind this change. The whole release and win thing always seemed a bit lame to me. On the other hand, releasing the undead does leave the necromancer himself open to more attacks, so it isn't as powerful as say, twenty wraiths.

I think what happens is you cast death shroud, get yourself 5 undead with 2 powerful controls, and then release those controls at an inn or other heavily-trafficked area.

I think I read a NEWS post from some guy named Calrion about why that might not be cool. I think it was post number 10 out of 54.

Right, but that was a heck of a long time ago and mostly centered around the accidental killing of newbies. It even references the auto-delete due to constitution loss/auto reincarnate, which doesn't happen anymore.

I'm pretty sure that now controls will even leave at the tick once released, and they may even only aggro people who were in the room at the time of releasing. I'm not positive about those two things though.

I've had the undead angel from Teron charmed, teleported away without thinking, released it, and it attacked the PCs that were sitting there.

I've also had the same one in the room with me, death shroud up, released the control and it attacked me.

The aggressive ones will attack, that's for sure. Not so sure about the rest exactly. Hope that helps.

This has been discussed at length already. The IMMS do not consider it to be a bug, or an abuse of code, to do this.
