The Practice Ground
Many marks of footsteps and old, broken arrows cover the partly muddy and
hilly ground of that rather large and wide field. Little puddles from the
last rain can be seen, gently flushing around the tracks and some scattered
standing tussocks. In some distance several wooden targets rest there for
the archers, whereas at the opposite side a quite old and worn out rack
stands here, providing space for the archer's equipment and their
ammunition.
It's mostly clear, hot, and windy.

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but it seems a bit odd to me since there is no real fighting going on. There's fighting going on. According to the code, both rooms have fighting going on in them at that point, both the origin of the arrows, and the target.

But the same code would still allow the people to walk around freely without having to retreat, nor does it mention anything about combat going on other then "X fires an arrow in that direction". If someone was standing at a window, firing off at someone outside. Would that prevent you from picking up something on the ground next to them. Or the person outside to grab something off the ground, since the only thing hes trying to avoid is arrows flying toward him? If it is intentional then I'll take it as it is, just seemed a bit odd to me is all

I can freely walk around rooms that have other people in them if I'm not fighting.

Can walk freely around while shooting people too as long as they don't get close enough to initiate melee combat. I can imagine melee combat people fighting, moving around, being thrown around. Somewhat like large barfight, which would restrict you from picking things up. But if your buddy is standing next to you shooting people in the distance, there's not much to stop you from picking something up next to him or even asking him kindly move aside to grab something provided you don't step in front of him.
