if no one else is in the room, or they are people you don't mind greeting, greet all works.

Not what I was talking about. I mean that auto greet doesn't work in this instance; greet half-elf works just fine.

This is a pretty ancient glitch in auto greet. I think it's because auto greet targets by adjective and not race. If it targeted by race, you'd end up having a ton more issues. Might be resolved by having auto greet target by name.
