The large spaces seemed to indicate when someone was walking in invisible.

The Gathering Place of the Strong
You are standing in a large, wooden structure with a thatched roof. The
wood smoke makes it hard to discern what is more than a few paces away. The
dirt floor, and unfinished walls made of rough-hewn oak give the building a
sort of rustic sentiment. The focus of this gathering room is a long,
elliptical table, stained with spilt ale and blood. Long wooden benches
surround it, no seat being higher than any other. The dirt carpet here is
likewise stained, and upon closer inspection, the walls all seem to bear
wounds from heated (and armed) arguments that seem to be a common occurrence
here.
Obvious exits: n e ne
The sliced-off arm of a dwarf is lying here.
( 2) A mass of fur and steel has been left here.
( 2) A tangled pair of leather cords has been discarded here.
A strange puddle sits upon the ground.
A pile of leather lies here.
A pool of darkness absorbs light here.
A noble auburn-coated lupine creature with a thick mane prowls here.
A fire elemental silently awaits a command.
Peplyn (a deeply-tanned male halfling) is resting here.
(Charmed) A Taslamaran courser is here, chewing impatiently on his bit.
Senterien (a black-haired male half-elf) is resting here.
Raveron (a frosty-eyed male elf) is resting here.

It's a broken script for an echo on an item someone was wearing walking by, likely. There's a couple of items whose echoes are not scripted properly and so they cause big empty gaps to appear.

It is definitely an item Elujin has. Noticed this today when his character was moving in/out of the room with my character.

There are a fair number of items that cause this effect, or similar in type if not in scale.
