I'm kind of curious what prompted this change. It doesn't make much sense, to be quite honest, and wasn't needed at all. 5+ years ago, this change would've maybe made sense.

The days of people using Etherealform to harass/PK classes with no counter/access to Etherealform have been gone for years. There's hardly any PK any more either, so the 'get out of jail free' use of ethereal wand/scrolls are gone too.

With the current change, all etherealform devices are effectively useless. They last a matter of seconds. There are things like the mithril armor from the Iron Citadel that have ethereal scripts that take (more than) a character's entire mana pool for 5 seconds of etherealform.

The lag from brandishing literally lasts longer than the etherealform from that device.

Thank you for flagging this bug. The change was not intended to affect the duration of item casting, only cause mana to drain more frequently from the held version of the spell. I will patch this as soon as possible.
