The other option would require some fancy scripting which would create a command buffer on the client end that would recognize the output of each command you entered and not release the next command until the previous command was registered by the MUD.

The solution is not so hard as you would think. All one needs is a 'state' variable in their client and triggers to change the value. Then, aliases can have conditionals to only fire if (or if not) the state is equivalent to certain values, such as casting, blind, prone, and so on. You could make a macro that basically turns, say, F6 into a 'Fix Me' button. All of this is legal.

The most stable version of this would be a set of triggers to parse the output of the 'affects' command, but a simple "You're already casting something!" is easy enough. Grepinfo's had one for over a year.

yeah... no. I was a philosophy major. But happy to talk about the theoretical aspect of this. ;)

Oh, snap, it's offline? Give me a sec. Today is distro upgrade day. I'll fix it later. :P But, really, if you want a game with functionality, grepinfo+sk is a really shabby replacement for a plain old gui-based mmo. If you like having bars and clicks and macros, SK really doesn't try to cater to that, but there are other games that do.
