I have a license for both Zmud and Cmud and a few years back I remember trying Cmud and thinking it sucked. I cannot for the life of me remember why however, so I'm hoping you can tell me.

Having some problems with Zmud in windows 7 you see, and was considering if using Cmud instead might solve it.

CMUD does fix the Windows 7 issues.

"Sucky" may be a strong word. The program is definitely more MUD friendly than, say, MUSHClient but its log function is inferior since it won't save the buffer. Of course, I was spoiled by SimpleMU which saved everything since you logged on regardless of when you started logging.

MUSHclient is cool, but ZMud is still the boss.

SimpleMU is terrible. If you're going to do any PvP, it will certainly hamper you in that area.

You don't need to switch to CMUD to resolve Windows 7 issues. If you are using Windows 7 and want to continue using zMUD, right click the zMUD icon, go to the compatibility tab, check mark the following boxes:

Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Privilege level: Run this program as an administrator

I still use zMUD 7.21 and before that I used 3.62 for years and years. Best client around.

It turns out that Windows 7 and Zmud has issue even when running in compatibility mode if you install Zmud to the default director (Program Files\Zmud). I'm assuming this probably has to do with ownership of folders and some paranoid security measure of some sorts - but re-installing it on my secondary harddrive fixed all my problems. (Or rather, all my problems with Zmud... I guess you could say I got 99 problems but my Zmud ain't one. 8) )

Out of curiosity...Why do you say that?
