Quote: By which name would you like to be known? name Password: password That character is already playing. Oh, really? Because I could swear that Linux Mint won't save my "tap to click=off" setting and I accidentally closed my window. Where, exactly, is this character playing? |

Your character is either exactly where you last left it or may now be in limbo while in the process of timing out. Killing your client does not cause your character to leave the game. Nor does losing your internet connection or losing power to your computer. Everything in the game takes place on a server not on your personal machine. Only two things will cause your character to leave the game - when the server receives the 'quit' command from your client, or if your character has not received any commands in about 30 minutes, it will time out and auto quit. |

That 30 minute number is way off. I've walked out of the room to let the dog in and been disconnected. |

Did your dog happen to pee on the router? |

That 30 minute number is the time it takes to actually log off. I think voiding out only takes like 10-15. |

The router is situated in a place where a pit bull can't fit herself. Ten to 15 minutes is also too long. I was willing to accept that I had to babysit my SK connection on Atlantis while using my [REDACTED] macbook. However, I don't like having to do the same on Windows and Linux with CMud, Mushclient and SimpleMU. I literally only have to be "away" for longer than two minutes and I've voided out. Yes. I have a high-speed connection. No, I don't have this problem with other applications and games. |

I've never voided in less than five minutes, and a full disconnect usually takes well over twenty (probably 30 mins, but I've never taken the time to measure exactly.) Sounds like it's possibly a client preferences issue? Dunno, it's weird if your void times are so low, because that's all done server-side and it's identical for all connections. |

It's based on the last command you issued. Is it possible that you are just not entering any commands for 5 minutes, then walking away for 2? If you're voiding out then you most certainly aren't getting disconnected, but if you just up and d/c, that's an intermittent connection issue that's probably on your ISP or router's side since no one else is getting disconnected randomly. |

I'd invite you over to witness this problem for yourself, Edoras, but somehow I think you'd be an unrelenting [REDACTED] even if you saw it first hand. No. I am NOT typing a command and getting up five minutes later. I'm typing a command seconds before getting up because I know that, even if I just go to [REDACTED], I am going to have to log back in. |

Could be crappy internet, that was my issue in the past with something like this. Might be losing a lot of packets somewhere in the mystical world of the intarwebs. |
