So I thought that I would post this there, I am looking for a simpler way of creating aliases in Mushclient. Currently I have to do this: cl cast 'cure light' cl * cast 'cure light' %1 I think that there is way so that I can use regular expressions so that when I type cl without a target, that it would default to me? Is there a way to do this? |

Alias it in-game. |

Regular expressions are never simple, my friend. I'll see what I can dig up, but other people might already be more acquainted with MUSHClient and ready to help. I'm pretty sure that, in the MUD itself, beneficial spells default to self-cast and harmful spells default to target-cast, though? I'd caution against aliases in-game, particularly those that are multi-line. There's a very weird and hard-to-describe one pulse delay on all in-game multi-line aliases. Just thought I'd put that out there for anyone reading the thread. |

I set up a targeting alias to set a variable. That works the best for me. It works kinda like this: <target *> this command will set my target variable to the argument after the word, "target." So, for your example, you could choose, "self," or the name of your character. You can also choose your pet, or some ally you wish to heal. Then you can adjust your alias for cure light (or whatever spell you want) to <cast 'cure light' @target>. Be sure to check the box, "Expand Variables." Now your cure light alias will always be set to cast at whatever you pre-set your target as. |

Isn't that technically illegal now? |

No, because the ginger still has to type 'target grep' in order to change his target, and then his alias for cure light to heal you when the time comes. There aren't even any triggers involved here, so what exactly would you think could be illegal about his setup? |

I have no doubt that your scripting knowledge and skill is superior to my own, Finney. However, I created my own and it works just fine for me so I'm going to stick with that. I appreciate that you are putting those tools out there because they enhance the game experience, in my opinion and can help to bridge the gap between skilled players like yourself and newbs such as me |

Is there a way to do this? Why would you need to do that? The default target is your character, if the spell is beneficial and you don't use an argument. I am a noob. I think that I figure it out. In all of my alias I always put a hardcoded space between the alias and the wildcard. I figured out now why when I only set up alias with the target it would not cast it on myself. It wouldnt even register as an alias. Now I found out that I am just a noob and didnt put the wildcard character with no space. Now I need to go through and clean up all my aliases. Thanks for your help, Finney |
