Anyone else ever have to do something neat or beyond in "the call of duty" at work?

Got to flex my SUPERvisor yesterday, an off-day for all but several of us in the company I work for, in which 2 were absent. Got a call from the head of the IT department, the server room is too hot! I'm just a tech-savy supervisor with a decent knowledge of fluid/thermo dynamics, security clearance, and a master-key! Used my clearance to bypass security on the server room door, took a commercial grade fan out of the warehouse, brought it into the office and began to pump cool air from the office into the toasty warm server room! Got the server down to a manageable level, around 60C from a toasty 70C according to the admin! I was pretty happy with myself, that and completing the day with two people short on a skeleton crew!

I have more, but this was a good one from yesterday! I know the community has all sorts of professions and professionals, any good stories?

You don't want to know the things we do on submarines to keep the boat out to sea. It makes my wife cringe.
