I thought elves were more agile than deep elves. Elves get the forest excercise and deep elves get to sit and brood over their evil plots giving them higher intelligence...

I do believe your right though don't quote my numbers. When I went through all the help files to find general pros and cons it was extreamly early in the morning and I was a little tired. I do believe elves get an extra dex point when it comes to delfs vs elves. Though in the helpfiles as I said, its more general and not as specific. Since this topic seemed more based on general.

The thing also with griffons is that they are limited to what cabal/tribunal they are allowed to join... I dont see why so many people hate them. Described as beautiful creatures. How is a delf in Mira's church supposed to act to a griffon? That seems interesting.

The thing about griffon scouts is that griffons do not get high CHA... meaning taming any good beast is challenging. Same for when your in a tribunal and leadership comes into play... near impossible to operate anything strong when you have a CHA so low... however, griffons when it comes to barbarian class are machines!

Unless you really have your skills developed on this game, I wouldn't recommend playing an elf or delf. They have some severe weakness that can really be exploited.

Elves are weak vs negative energy and to put into perspective what that means I was once e-drained two full levels from GM to lvl 48 while raiding Krychire with an elf paladin named Roriand. They have other weaknesses too but this is the main one.

Delf - BoG (Bolt of Glory) or colorspray will destroy you.

Unless you really are interested in the RP of elves and delves I would suggest you avoid them. You can substititute human or helf for anything an elf or delf can do basically.

Apart from that all the races are pretty good. You can play up to their respective strengths or weaknesses or you can simply come up with a character you want to play and make the char for rp value.

That's what's nice about SK you have spectrum between hardcore power chars and in depth roleplay characters. And usually a nice mix of both.

Giants are also vulnerable to lightning attacks.

There are fewer strong lightning spells in the game then there are, say, light-based, fire-based (centaur weakness), or negative energy based spells. Giants may be weak against lightning but it you're more or less restricted to chain lightning (limited usage ability), lightning bolt (not that strong for base damage), or call lightning (when was the last time you saw this used?).

I believe that the choice of race should first come from your character concept and RP intentions, instead of chosing the most cookie-cutter race to play your chosen class on

Grelden was a halfling mercenary. Surely NOT the best choice of race to play a mercenary on, but he did very well, and up to today, I cannot remember any other halfling mercenaries.

If you want no perticular weaknesses and good max stats, the best choice for everything would seem to be human. Half elves are good for fighter/adventurer classes mostly, and all the rest of the races seem to be specialized in two or three classes they are cookie cutter in.

But the cons and pros of say, for example, elves, are not only what can be read in the helpfile.
The pros of elves is that they easily make friends and allies with those of the light, while they become a kill on sight target for most of the dark aura players.

I hope that helped

Priest made a halfling merc in the keepers to prove that they didn't suck. I remember that only because i read a log of him getting nizzkori arrested by forcing her to wimpy out with a crossbow.

Pfuggre or whatever he was called was pretty elite also. Halflings, with the exception of small sized weapons and their weakness to blunt weapons are rather decent warriors.

Halfling warriors are better than human ones in a lot of ways (especially their 22 dex, vs humans 20 [excepting swashbucklers]). They're only really beaten out by half-elves as far as barb/merc goes, making it a three-way tie between halfers, dwarves and giants.

As for this best race/class thing, make yourself six characters of every race and write down the numbers for each stat. Then write down their vulnerabilities and strengths. Then you don't need to ask silly questions like "What are the pros and cons of every race and class?"
