I'm a rather new player myself, but I keep running into true Newbies running pell mell into the SE section of the Proving Grounds in Newbie Narina and getting themselves killed. I've even found them sleeping up there! I've tried protecting them and talking to them but to no avail. They won't stop long enough to listen! Then there are all the practice weapons I've found inside Zakami I've killed. Any ideas on ways to slow down the kamakazis?

the practice weapons in zakami are there because they are throwing knives. you can stock up on them and throw them every round.

If you really want to prevent them from running to the SE section do the following.

Say blah dont....
If they have already moved walk in, follow XXplayer and say again.
If he insists on running that should work.
mode stun
aim lower
......

Old nerina used to have a gate/choke-point? Also had an underground section.

Total newbies didn't really navigate that until level 3 or 4 just out of sheer learning curve. Worked rather well as an automatic protection mechanism, I found.

I would prefer that the worst that can happen is STUN when in newbie-school, but they're going to have to learn about death anyway. All we can do is try to minimise the number of times they die before they learn 'big demon = bad'.
