I use the following atconnect alias in v7.05:

#LOG Logs\Nashira\%time( yyyy-mm-dd)

Just make sure you adjust for the correct directory names in your own zMUD file folder.

Does this start logging automatcially when you sign in?

It starts when you connect to the mud. That's why it's called the 'atconnect' alias. If you want more information, read the zmud helpfile associated with 'atconnect'.

Okay, Can't get it to start logging, I have to manually start logging, so I don't have something right. Also I looked in the helpfile and there isn't a topic for atconnect. Other suggestions?

What version of zmud are you using? I know it works on all v6.xx and up, since that's when I started using it..

One last tidbit...if you assign a command to the alias atconnect, it will be executed whenever you connect to the current MUD.

So, if you paste:

Quote:
#ALIAS {atconnect}{#LOG Logs\Nashira\%time( yyyy-mm-dd)}

..in your command line, with the appropriate directory information, it should work. Note that parsing should be off (the computer icon in the bottom right corner should NOT have a red X through it).

Are you seeing the "Appending to Log Logs\Nashira\07-24-2005.txt" pop up? If not, then you've copied the alias incorrectly. If so, consider this: in Windows, you also have to make sure that the specified directory is created on the hard-drive. Otherwise, ZMUD will happily inform you that it is logging, but the output stream goes nowhere. This also has the unfortunate side-effect of crashing your system due to memory overflow after an hour or two, depending on the strength of the machine.

Or, just set a (gasp!) trigger to fire on "Connected to host mud.shatteredkingdoms.org" with the same code as before. I think that's what I do, and even if I have to reconnect, it just keeps right on trucking.

Okay think I'm closer but something is still amiss. I get this at my log in.

Connected to host mud.shatteredkingdoms.org
Log is on: Logs\Endrial\2005-07-24.txt

Now I have the file created:
C:zMUD\ShatteredKingdoms\Logs\Endrial

Here is what is in the Alias created:
atconnect
#LOG Logs\Endrial\%time( yyyy-mm-dd)

But I don't get the append and I'm not getting a txt file in my logs folder.
Any ideas?

make sure that the directory you have in the alias actually exists Your alias is pointing to Logs\Endrail but you said you have the created directory of ShatteredKingdoms\Logs\Endrail

So should the alias point to:
zMUD\ShatteredKingdoms\Logs\Endrial

or to:
ShatteredKingdoms\Logs\Endrial

Would it be the second one because it's just going to place it in zMUD's folder anyways?

Edited:
Played around with it some and the 2nd one does now work and I get the file in the directory.

Thank you for all the advise and help.
