I have heard recently that it is impossible for someone to have their alignment changed. I thought that two of the spheres of the Gods in SK dealt with the cleansing of one's soul. Meissa and Alshain comes to mind. Is this true and if true why is this so? We would be missing some really great rp.

It is true sadly, I tried the same rp with my very first character and after the whole rebirth rp with Tahl, we found out it was impossible.

:(

This would be a good change to make to the game and add a lot of good RP into the mix. If a character performs horribly evil acts, their soul should be tainted for it, and if a similar character fights against the evil within themselves, there should be a way to find redemption as well.

About the only clarification I can make is such a 'change' would bring about the immediate end of your character's career, effectively ascending you eternally to the White Flame, or 'gods of light,' etc. Or of course, on the flip side, for even going through and attempting such a ceromony, the dark gods could eternally smite said individual. Either way, the character would not be able to exist on the mortal plane any longer. And at the end of any RP with this kind of 'result,' the character must go bye bye...

(No imm will change your alignment, and playing against your alignemnt is a cursable/punishable offense.)

The only reason there is no alignment change is because most players would not be able to handle the RP required, or if you want me to put it less arrogantly, each player would have a different idea of what exactly constitutes enough RP to change it. So even if the IMMs demanded at least 10 IC years of a "hazy" state in the character's heart and mind, people would still rush to 'abuse' this.

Imagine; not even changing from a cabal to another one is allowed at this time, alignment is something much more permanent than that.

Yes, because you would not abuse it. Others would.

Or so people always claim when matters of giving more liberty in SK's RP is being discussed.

If you could change alignment I'd make a human hellion of Ain, get him "saved" and join the Hammer. Horsemanship cleaves baby.
