As for reach weapons.. the only one for sale is the spear that I know of. And you have to reach apprentice before the item thieves will stop stealing it from you. Warlocks with their limited weapon selection don't get spear or pole arms.. But a humanoid warlock can get a pole-mace...(somewhere I've seen one)

There are pole-maces available to griffons, and griffon warlocks can equip these. The only down fall is that most griffon weapons I know of are for characters that are Veteran or higher in level, perhaps some newbie friendly griffon items need to be added to the game in due time.

I'd recommend you use your claws while leveling, and fight beside your elemental instead of behind it. You can order your elemental to start the fight, and the extra attack you'll get from using your claws will only benefit you till you can learn second attack for your weapons.

Hmm wonder where they are.. ;) Not that I'd really mind replacing em if I got it for a marathon session..

Only problem with fighting beside my pet is that NPCs quickly turn their attention to me, blow through my stone skins, and start smacking me for 8-10% a round.

If the NPCs are doing 8-10% a round you might be fighting the wrong kinds of NPCs. Either that or you've reached the point where you just let your elemental tank while you spam spells.
