What should be done to summon?

For the majority of the MUD, hard.

As Ardith so nicely states, MP has no relation to summon. What you're looking for is willpower.

I meant to type MR in either case it didn't help much in the long run. Willpower or MR. It is still way too easy to summon with the amount of art can be used for it.

A level 1 character who has a hard time to get some basic eq will also be killed from a spider near Teron. Or from a tundra yeti.

And to have a good chance to avoid summon except from the same general area you don't need more than 15 willpower.

And to give a small hint, there are like 23421231 willpower mods in SK. They even sell +willpower treasure mods in a few places. And two classes get the spell called 'enchant armor' while quite a few others can use double enchant armor scrolls.

If you don't want to sit and enchant your EQ, you deserve to die. Simple as that. I am sometimes bored as well, but if I get summoned because I didn't have will mods I won't blame the spell, I'll blame myself for my laziness.

Ehh, I don't see anything wrong with summon. If you want to avoid it, get yourself willpower mods or ask a friendly sorc/priest to enchant your gear. My last two characters never got summoned, except when they were completely naked or their eq hadn't been worked on. In Jiin's case this was once, I think.

Group summon would make summon even more powerful, as already outlined. After some experiments with 'gate', it also has same willpower resistance checks as 'summon'.

There are a few direct/indirect defenses against the spell 'summon' already.

1. Summoner and victim have to be in the same area/zone. That is, same city, same wilderness, etc. In cities the summoner will definitely break the law, and that means banishment these days.

2. Summoning against prepared opponents with willpower resistance enchants is not easy, providing the victim moves to safety after a failed attempt or two. Summoners with 14 art are one voodoo away from death.

3. In the likelihood of summon kills, one can remain in a 'rest' position with a potion of word of recall ready.

With that said, I'm impartial whether if we get auto summon as immunity. It's nowhere near the evil that is CRS.

However I would really like it if, instead of seeing:
Someone attempts to summon you... and fails.

In the case where summoner and victim are in the same area/zone:
Someone failed to summon you, and they are close.

In the case where summoner and victim are not in the same area/zone:
Someone failed to summon you, and they are far away.


Something like that. Word it however it is fitting to SK. If we get that change it might not be necessary to wimp summon at all. But whatever.

Are you kidding? Summon is the one thing that has almost made me quit the game for good. This mud is about group v group and instead it is all about group v 1. If you don't think it is happening then you are either a) been fortunate to not witness the worst kind of rp b) Hiding your head saying it cannot be really that bad. c) You wanna still keep getting pk kills easily.
