What should be done to summon?
Nothing. It's fantastic. I love ganking people. 19%  19%  [ 14 ]

Hmmm . . .Then Agnesi did a poor job that time of setting up the kill. 99.99% of the time summon=dead. Then to ask the a sorc or the very few priests to uber enchant everything for you is asking a lot of time they do NOTHING. No rp, just plain old nothing. I know priests have little to no time to do that. Being innundated with rez callings.

I guess if summon is going to be wimped somehow, I'll go with the idea of it revealing the name of the caster or his location. Rendering oneself completely immune against the spell when auto summon is on is ridiculous imo.

Any objections to summon simply not using art, because it would solve all of these problems and not wimp it too much?

Hmmm . . .I am not sure yet. Initially, I would agree with you. It would be a good test though. Anything better than this rpless form of pk. I still think gate should land easier.

I don't know anything about how things worked before art, so can't say whether or not it would solve the problem.

As for the 'just get a priest to über-enchant all your eq for you' argument, perhaps there are sorcs out there with lots of time on their hands that can do so, but I have trouble just covering my own Church and resurrections, and I imagine most priests are in the same situation.

Then again I just don't like summon as tactic. If it was wimped to only work when you were in an adjacent room sure, it could be a good tactical weapon to mess up group constellations and charms/undead/whatnot. Otherwise, no.

I like the idea of summon having a chance to show the name of the summoner. I also like the idea of making gate much stronger, or giving summon the chance of bringing the entire group instead of just the summoned.

All art does is help negate people's enchantments.

If you are uber enchanted art does nothing, and if you are not enchanted art does nothing. If you are moderately enchanted, as most of the pbase is, that is where summon+art makes a true difference.

Take away art from it and those giants will still get wtfpwned, even moreso because the pbase will be lulled into a sense of false security.

Giants should be wtfpwned. People with in my view low (10-15 will) should be only summonable from 1-2 rooms away. People with 20+ will shouldn't be summonable.
