I think if you called any race that dwelled underground cavemen then you probably would be found lacking creativity. At least 3 races are often found living beneath the surface so to call them all the same thing makes little sense given the clear racial differences.

As far as the culture goes, quite a few people still play deep-elves by the traditions created when they were still drow. In spite of the amount of time that has passed the old ways can still be seen in the RP of people currently. While I personally dislike the change that was made from drow to deep-elves, I am glad to see that some of the traditions were maintained. Also, I do still hear deep-elves referred to as drow ICly from time to time. The change in coding, to this day, has not fully killed the drow of SK and unless all players from the days of drow leave, I doubt they will ever be forgotten.

My character would probably be angry at you for lumping my race (which clearly is superior) with any of the others that live underground in so general a sense. But in general, I think they would just laugh at you (unless they were a hellion, then they would just slay you where you stood).

If somebody called my deep-elf a caveman I would probably just call them a poor naive child, pat them on the head, and walk away. Some insults just aren't worth bothering with.
