I am not able to log on to SK at the moment, and I just remembered that I wanted to report this, so I am going to while I still remember.

When you butcher the corpse of another PC that you have not met, the resulting steaks show their name. Given the lengths to which everything else goes not to reveal the names unless they tell you or you have an identify spell and a corpse, I figured that this was probably not the intent.

On the other hand, don't you want to have your trophy-steaks to bear the person's name?

Well, I suppose so. But, given that the only PK I have done is someone who ASKED me to (long story), it hasn't been a real big issue. :)

Now that I think about, I bet skin does the same thing, but I haven't tested it. I mean, I have on my OWN corpse (of which there have been quite a few  ), but I obviously know my name already. heh.

It would accomplish what you want if the steaks instead gave the <adjective> <gender> <race> and not the name. Surely this is more in character. The question is, do you want names to be easy to figure out so that you can RP with someone after killing them?

Well, it isn't so much what *I* want, per se, it just did not seem to fit the sense that I have (which could definitely be in error, I admit) that the steak thing doesn't really fit with the goals of the imms regarding finding out a player's name. If I am off-base, then tell me and I won't mention it again.

using Lore on a corpse will tell its name as well... I don't think it a mistake or a bug though but rather a useful tool. that way you can finally find out the name of that poor newbie that has left four corpses strewn throughout the bakemono caves.
