In the Tunnels
  Some iron rings are set into the stone walls here and a trail of rust
leads down from them.  You wonder how, in all these years, they have managed
to escape being eaten to dust by the constant flow of damp air.   
  Obvious exits: e s crack
     There is a wide, vertical crack in the northern wall.
A large brown rat is here.
A large rat bites at your left toe, cutting it slightly.

I'm guessing it's a separate trigger altogether that -should- be affected by being K.O.d but isn't.

Scripts of NPCs cheat(and poison bite is a scripted attack). Just leave with that. And keep in mind a headbutted Vorash Gorah can still own you(propably :P).

Indeed, probably all scripted attacks NPCs have don't check for the knockout/headbutt affect.
It is the skill that needs fixing not the particular NPC.

It was the one of the rats in the caves under Morea. They wander around, so there wasn't a specific room.

The poison bite is not ...technically... a script, but it should be checking to see if it is headbutted, etc.

Most likely it would have to be fixed by code.

I still think it's worse that slept NPCs can still *glow with magical energy* and cast 4 spells a round.
