Shattered Kingdoms

So many sub-classes and it seems so few to choose from. There doesn't seem to be an overabundance of weapons open to low level starting people.

If your responce is there are plenty of weapons you need to know where to look, you need to post to another thread.

I will add I don't want to wait till I am journeyman or above to discover what sub-type I would like to play with, Steel subtypes are nice and nifty for us newbs to play around with.

Maybe there's a need here, but I think you need to be more specific about the problem. At low levels, I'm less concerned about mere variety and more concerned about access to decent levelling weapons. What weapon types do you need and can't find?

You have any idea where to find a sai in game? Please tell me other than the secret hidden one.

Another add on. Kama, Sai, Nunchaku, and sickle are all farming tools, as are Scythes and axes. These should be easily obtainable items, as I am sure some other sub-types. Don't need to go all twinkish on it, some steel will work.

I think what Kalte is trying to say is that he has a current character in Zhenshi and can't find any asian-style newb weapons, just your common sword and dagger types.

I agree with Tragonis on the great axe. It's not obvious every weapon type is appropriate for lowbies. Nor do I see a need for too many low-level weapons in general, considering how fast martial characters go through the first 20 levels.

Still, there's merit in having weapon variety, as long as the weapons make sense for a particular kingdom. However, there's a limited number of distinct items that a city can hold. For example, I know Nerina is near its limit. What would you want to disappear so that sais could be sold?

Actually, a lot of farmer NPCs have steel scythes. And there's an easily obtainable by lowbie character sai in Teron. You can buy tonfa in a travelling bazaar. (even though that's calssed as a jo staff) I think Kamas are a little too popular these days to have low level ones, but if he wants nunchaku, we COULD move the never used wooden weapons out of a secret cabal training location.

EDIT: or zhensh, in particular, I'd really like to move back into chinese type setting, as opposed to the "arab" setting. That means that scorpion-hilted crap can go, as can iron armor shop. Who buys iron armor, anyway, when you can get the zerg tanso steel across the street?

I disagree on the store that sells scorpion-hilted weapons. Even apart from the debatable question of culture, this stuff gets used by quite a few people.

The iron armor shop's another matter. I've used it once or twice when the plate was out of stock, but I wasn't too impressed. Nor do I recall seeing anyone else wear it. Maybe this shop is a good candidate for a alteration request?
