"outgoing tcp on port 1996". Nows I'mah take a guess and say that your work computer has firewall software installed on it. That would probably be norton, or mcafee, or something simular (I believe windows XP has a firewall built-in to the OS aswell? correct me if I'm wrong I don't use unstable software
). It's best to let your IT staff do this, but worst come to worst, you can always read the manual for your firewall software, or the website (if you comfortable playing with things). That being said to change firewall settings, like silmar said, you need admin access to your work computer.
