I notice that none of you talked much about control undead. I havent really played this game in about 2 years, but my only character above mentor was a little halfling necro from the end of the Kalum era of the adepts.

I never gm'd her so I could never animate wraiths. My animates were used for little more than meat shielding since I would die instantly if anything got at melee range, and ghouls werent that good once they stopped being able to make mushrooms for me :(.

If I wanted to pk I would just summon a blood wight and try to get it some weapons. Have things changed this much? Are pre-GM animates useful? I hear lots of stories about armies of 40 wraiths, but what about the lvl 47 necro who cant animate anything but wights and ghouls?

Why give a newb advice for making a perfect GM char? I spent probably 300 hours on my necro and never made gm, but still had a good time.

Controls can be fun, but very dangerous: taunt, dispel, cancel, and holy word will all ruin your day if you have a control.

As for gm advice for newbs, what other advice do you need? If you want to be a pk machine, you need to gm (99 times out of a 100), if you are just wanting to kill NPCs and rp (mostly what I do) you don't really need much advice on that do you?

Drewbag, your right that I don't really need/want to be a PK machine. I like the idea of PK for role play purposes, but not for "All joe base are belong to us" reasons. Still knowing more about the game makes the NPC killing easier (or at least more logical), and more fun; it could also help role play in *some* instances.

Anyways got another one for yous... Just acause I can :P

An Apparent Dead End
You have come to a dead end in this side shaft.  Scraps of torn and
rotted cloth lie scattered around the floor amongst other bits of assorted
debris.  The eastern wall at the end of this passage seems somewhat peculiar
and unlike the other walls.
Obvious exits: e(wall) w

Huh?  Type 'help' for a list of commands.

There's a few places where I can detect a hidden path, but I can never seem to enter that hidden path. I seem to remeber being another race/class before (It was my first day, and first char, and I ended up deleting due to various reasons) and being able to enter this very spot. Now as a D-elf necro I can see the path but can't enter the area? It might be because someone had bashed the wall before, and this time it hasn't bee bashed down? But I really have no clue.

Yeah, in order to go through walls you have to be either ethereal or you have to bash the wall.
