I think that leveling really has gotten much harder on the lower levels. My biggest frustration when playing a character is how much of my time spent "playing" is actually sleeping. Which is a waste of my time. It makes me want to go look at the forums or check my email. If I didn't have to sleep so much, maybe I'd enjoy playing more. Depending on what kind of build you're making, you can spend easily half your play time finding other ways to occupy yourself waiting to regen HP/ME/PE.

Well, I play off the peak hours as I live in Scandinavia. I find it very hard to believe that you without bash or a reach weapon is able to level alone in many places. It has also occured to me that most caster NPCs cannot be blinded anymore and when 9/10 NPCs casts confusion you really are screwed! I know one can buy a pet but it is only a matter of time before it misses its bash and you die.

Do not qoute me on this but I do believe the number of NPCs who can now cast confusion/chaos/hold person have been reduced. That is I think the immortals are making those spells class/religion specific, which is great news for us! I always hated how npc priests and sorcs could cast those spells.

I do not know what you mean by "most NPCs cannot be blinded anymore". I have not had a problem with dirt kick/blindness/color spray at all.

I am leveling a char without bash/trip and the NPCs that cast confusion aren't affecting me. Now, I am able to cast blind on them, but otherwise unaffected.

Okay, first art does not affect things without magical protection. My guess your wis is not maxed. I am btw not even using a high wis race. Decent but no where near really good. When I was just there at journeyman. I blinded those necros/priests very easily. I landed it a lot more than I missed.

Leveling is a huge hassle for those with terrible charisma scores.

You know, leveling in Sk isn't as bad as D&D. I think I had 10 hours of play time with my friends just getting to level 2. But then again we're there to have a ton of fun.

A) find two partners to level with. You can spend downtime roleplaying with them, and the xp gain shoots up with groups.

B) Increase your charisma score.

C) Level against NPCs that are opposite your aura.

And if you're a spellcaster, cast offensive spells, there's bonus xpz for that.

Since when did wis become important in order to land maledictions?

Cyra:

Yeah, well when I play there is usually 8-10 players around so it is VERY difficult to find someone to level with. I am trying to find NPCs of opposite aura. Btw, shamans do not have a whole lot of offensive spells and flamestrike does nada dmg.

Really? I always use flamestrike to level. Find groups and flamestrike away. I'm just having a hard time getting to the point where I can flamestrike. 45 hours so far, no investment, and apprentice 4. Almost there though. Once I get flamestrike I'm happy (just hope an investment comes through soon).

You play a shaman? That is why leveling takes so long. I may but wrong but I hardly ever have a hard time lvling up chars but a shaman I tried took forever. Actually, I gave up. Don't get me wrong they have an awesome skill/spell set but none of them does real damage. By the time you get flame strike most of your time lvling is sleeping and its boring.

I will admit with the shaman my cha was Distant but they do not need cha whereas there is a lot status that need boasting so if you want to make a great one you have to take the hit on the lvling.

I think shamans should get second attack earlier. What would it hurt? I know it would make lvling earlier for a low dmg output class like them.
