Paladins don't get shield, and you missed "protection", which does affect melee damage, and both classes get it.

I will suggest that the concentration for dominate be lowered, though. That'd make it a lot more useful.

My bad on the shield call. And yeah, I did forget protection. However, while protection does affect melee damage, so does sanc, and sanc also affects spell damage, arguably better than shield.

...Which is somewhat beside the point that prot + sanc + armor > prot + shield.

Well, bless would be one of those differences between the two classes that I'd see as totally reasonable to maintain. It's not unbalancing, it's not going to nimbus a hellion. At worst, it will make disarming a little easier.

This little series of suggestions isn't, contrary to popular opinion, aimed at making dark and light knights exactly the same. It's about making them roughly equal in power, to the point where it's player ability and skill that determines the winner between a hellion and a paladin in a duel, as opposed to the fact that the paladin skill/spell set > the hellion skill/spell set.

Making domination a skill and not a spell would actually fix all woes, I think.

Ie Like intimidate, takes up concentration, still.

You know, that isn't a bad idea, except that I don't think it would come with the apparently necessary drop in concentration cost.

I also wouldn't mind seeing domination being changed to a sort of BoG-nimbus style thing, where instead of acting like a charm person spell, it acts more like a taunt that's maintained by the concentration of the hellion, and keeps the opponent from fleeing.

don't like the idea of dominating being like taunt.

The only buff hellions need is if cleave deleted pfiles instead of instantly killing characters. There should be a 10% chance of deleting a pfile when hit with cleave.

Code:
You cleave through Syuveil's chest!
Syuveil has left the game.

If paladins and hellions were balanced with each other, each would have an equal chance of winning a duel.

That's just silly.

A great part of a hellion's strength relies on stealth and mobility, something which is not present in a duel. Not to mention that in a "proper" duel, a hellion cannot bring a dominate.

A hellion with a dominate will school a paladin one on one if they cannot flee (read: aren't allowed). The two classes are perfectly balanced, perhaps with the exceptance of disarm - and frankly, I'd rather see paladins lose it than hellions gaining it.
