Okay, we all know Sk's who lists are 1/3 of what they used to be.

So, how about we implement an in game quest system to attain investment into a faith?

This would work as follows:

CharacterA goes to TEMPLE/SHRINE, kneels and is given a scripted command to do something.

From there, he does the task, returns, and is sent to another place to do another task.

He goes and does that, and then is rewarded by being given favor 1.

This will give him all spells up to expert (IE before resurrection) and then he must seek favor 2 from an HF/HP.

Favor 2 no longer stops blemishment, but allows creation of symbols. Wow, now symbols are no longer super-rare and require interaction with a regular member of the clergy to let them preach to you (which can, OH MY GOD, earn them more favor through ARPEE, LAWL!).

Add a new flag, called F4 to be given to the HFs. The current F3 flag stops blemishment from all but the patron God/ess.

Now, no more waiting weeks to get into a faith and no more having to find imms or whatnot to fill vacant faiths.

Cut the stupid foreplay already. Takes an hour to code this or less and saves everyone time.

I have pushed for a multi-tiered investment system to be put into place, and we already have the commands knight/ordain to help fulfill that goal. I would like to know what Dulrik sees as the future here, but I'm not sure we'll se the necessary revisions anytime soon.

I like the current system, but I think that progression should be possible without necessarily involving an Immortal. However, there's no religions that are considered completely dead right now, something that was true years ago, but has been offset by Dulrik's coding efforts. One of those invisible tweaks allows us to flag followers on the fly, where in years past it took more direct IMM effort.

I like it too but I am sad to say that it will never ever happen.

I hate replacing roleplaying with coded solutions. The main reason to enter a church or play a clergy class is for the RP surrounding the faith. If you don't want the RP, go play a stupid grinding machine.

I could accept this if it was only possible for paladins/hellion/priests - and provided there was a cap of either vet/expert until you reach the second tier, like Sinnoch said.

If i wanted a scripted system for religion, then perhaps cabal, or whatever, i would go play WOW :P

Seriously, all the fun is the interaction and the roleplaying with one another. Scripted and Hard coded solutions should be the very very last resort.

I prefer human vs human instead of human vs computer.

That's just my view.

To clarify:

I didn't say I wanted coded quests for religion access. I think there could be more levels and perhaps more ways of handling the entire invest system, but I'm not really sure I'll be waiting for a revision to this in the short term.

I will not go for or against this. As I know many people take a hard no on change. I like the idea of increasing faith numbers. But at what cost? You use the ideal that not as many people play. Well if there is a lesser pbase then these new seekers for faith are just old players on an alt.

I would however would like to see some sort of faith quest for a symbol. Some faiths just do not have the clergy because there is little to draw them. So I feel that one temple for each faith should have a priest/ess that allows for a very heavy handed quest that is borderline RP, but goes into a deeper understanding of the faith. Make it variable so people cannot just walk up and say XXX and get the symbol.
