Flames based on racial heritage are against the terms of service and are not allowed. Repeat offenses from either of you will result in your banning from the forums. Don't even tell me you were just kidding. This is not tolerated.

Our definition of "flame" clearly differs.

Anything to say about the topic at hand, D?

The topic is something we are slowly working on. I've been working lately to diversify the priest class a bit. Mercs already have a bit of diversity in their choice of specialization, although there is room for more.

Is it bad that I can tell you exactly what Yana and Instant_Karma said?

Yeah, that's bad.

Mercs are already pretty diverse. Of course, you get khopesh crazes, kama crazes, crossbow crazes, etc, but they're still pretty good. If the weapon subtype thread bears any fruit, they'll become even more so.

Priests already have cloth/light/heavy armor religions, and with the religion spells being added, they're becoming more and more different. Not a lot of work needed there except continued implementation.

Swashies are a bit annoying. You have your half-elf swashies, pretty typical, your elf swashies, like helf but more delicate, and your sprite death-by-a-thousand-stabs swashies. Elves and humans are a rare occurence, so you basically have two very, very tired options. Not sure what can be done for them, but whatever it is, they need it.

Barbs just need a ranged option.

Casters are probably pretty good for diversity. Hellion/Paladin might need some work, but there are quite a few options there.

That pretty much just leaves the fighter classes. Personally, I think that this problem would be pretty much solved if the weapon subtype idea in the other thread was implemented successfully.

Speaking purely as a player of a cloth priestess, I would like to see more diversity in the priest class.

I would actually like to see it split into battle priests and healers. But I would also like to see battle priests have their heavier armors in the light and cloth armor faiths.

Tonth was a much more aggressive Aludran than Lirimaer. He would be much more of a battlepriest, in my idea, and I could see him being far more aggressive in the nature of prayers and the battle priests being damage focused, while the healers are more peaceful and obviously focused on healing, tending to wounds, fixing things others can't.

It could mean starting as clergy and then at a certain level, like jman or expert, you choose your specialization.

One thing that really tends to attract people to a game is their ability to make unique characters and concepts. A certain degree of diversification helps. Even if it is just your newbie school teacher letting you pick which of your weapons you will start with.

Why do priests have dagger at all? It goes completely against the traditional priest ideas. No edged weapons. Why not start the classes with either choosing their weapon or a logical choice for the class?

"Me dumb barbarian! Me not want little sliver to poke people! Me use fists!"

Barbarians starting with brawling skills rather than a dagger.

But what do I know! I never bothered to play with the mechanics too much.

Priests get dagger because every class gets the dagger skill. It's the universal melee weapon skill.

I generally don't see priests run around with weapons at all.

As for what you are suggesting, that is a thing that should be dealt with through roleplay and not code.

I keep hearin this, "not code, RP" bandwagon but in most cases it makes no sense. People want a diverse skillset, not RPing they don't know how to use skills they have.
