I disagree entirely. While IMMs should spend a bit of their time building, they must remember what they can do, and what the pbase can't do. Players can and often are willing to lend a hand in building new things. I don't believe Wert ever had trouble getting players to help with an area, and while I've not had time to build like I should, I still enjoy building stuff for the game. What you IMMs can do that players can't, however, is run GRPs and do the special stuff. I've been disconnected from the game a bit lately, so you might be doing this more already, but the day-to-day stuff, while unavoidable, is the stuff that really ruins the life from this game. I don't mind spending time grinding for coin, or getting new gear for someone ... again, but when thats all I do, I just don't have the heart to do it anymore. I'd rather re-beat Halo, or Half-life, or play an online game with friends that I get some entertainment out of. I realize the players can create RP, but our ability to do so isn't great as yours and is limited to many factors.

'nuff said.

Actually, I agree with this.

Kinda why I generally tweak small things in-game (typos and the like), hop around visible and switching into NPCs (especially at quieter times, as a bit of a reward for those guys who hang out when there's less people on).

EDIT: Wish I could do it more often, but what can I say? Life is busy at present. :)

Something definitely needs to be done about the process of leveling up / gaining experience through fighting NPCs. Being that it's the major of way of doing so, there needs to be some way to make it more enjoyable.

1) Quests that guide you out to areas, or at least provide some generic IC reason to go places and lay waste.
2) Active playerbase because it's always better in a group of 2-3 as far as curing bordom, as you can bring some life and RP to the exprience. Also other players can provide some more specific reasons to intro. you to new areas.

When someone doesn't know the game very well and there aren't people around to show you at all where to go, it can take considerable time to hit the right areas which give the right experience/level ratio. At higher levels, this becomes more and more difficult to do as the areas "require" more than one person - either to get there, or to survive tactically.

It took me in the neighborhood of 500 hours to level Amadeo. There were times levelling was tricker. On the other hand, there was a lot more activity going on and more RP to be involved in (or to drum up). One of the reasons this was even so is there was a more active playerbase to begin with. Most of the times I wanted to find a group and go work on the levels, it was generally possible. So I while I can say there is a coorelation between activity and the grind, I can't say it's a direct relationship. When there are players around, the levelling is easier.

Going back to nothingxs' last post... "there needs to be some way to make it [fighting NPCs/levelling up] more enjoyable. If the game had more built in questing/sending out of PCs to areas with game provided reasons, that would certainly help the less experienced people who don't know the game as well get out there. If some of those quests provided experience upon completion that would help everyone. This still does not address whatever it is veteran players are still writing about here though, does it? That's just giving really 'free' experience to those who already know the game. That may may things easier, but I'm not positive about "making it more enjoyable," unless the idea is faster is more enjoyable. I found things enjoyable when I was purposefully trying to level and could manage a notch every 15-20 mins. What are people's expectations between "it's too difficult/boring" and "unchallenging/too easy" at the medium to higher levels?

I'm one of the oldest players around these days and I've never seen SK dip so low in numbers. This is the farthest I've ever seen it drop. I'm seeing like 20-25 people at most typically.

What's to be done? I have no clue anymore.

PvP

The darkies have been gimps lately.

Someone needs to revive the Adept cabal too, and the penalties with CRS need shifted to something other than losing cabal skillz.

You're simply mad because you didn't use the boost to get through.

Hi all!

As a new player, I was hoping I could offer my two cents on SK as I've seen it so far. I'll talk a little bit about what I've found positive and great, as well as a few suggestions.

POSITIVES
--> First and foremost, I think the PB here is amazing. I came from a MUD where the playerbase sucked--a few bad apples made a lot of people quit. Consider I've probably sent tells to half the playerbase asking (or begging) for help and not been flamed definitely says something about the game.

--> The number of areas and diversity of NPCs here is great. If I didn't want to go to area X, I can go to area Y. From what I've seen of it, it's great.

--> The classes and abilities, how you learn them, are great too. It forces you to interact with other people, as well as go out and explore other areas.

THINGS THAT CAN BE ADDED

--> I'd love to see a newbie channel, or a mentor system where a newbie of one class is paired up with a veteran of another class. It was a bit intimidating for me to send tells to random people to see whether they could train me.

--> Maybe not-so-stiff PE penalty to move around for newbies? It was a bit frustrating to move a few squares and then have to stop and rest for a long time.

That's all I can think of right now. Thanks for giving me this chance to express my opinions and help improve the game! =)
