I mean if people can get stuff done, even while they are getting owned... I think its kinda pointless.

The most immortal your character can get is having them mentioned 2 over a year after their death by people they knew in life, to kids that did not know your character, but wish to be like them

We are talking about politics, where how "powerful" you are doesn't really matter at all. If you can convince or pay someone to do the heavy lifting for you, that's even better than doing it yourself.

Need an example? How about Hitler? I'm pretty sure he was just an Initiate Art Student, but he somehow manipulated people into making him ruler of Germany. Any one of his soldier bodyguards could have turned around and blown him away but that wouldn't have made them the new ruler of Germany. Yes, it's Godwin's Law, but I think it's a valid comparison to make about who is the Emperor of the Empire.

I really don't see that as relevant. Hitler never got pked did he? I understand that its less relevant that Slayne was mass pked, because he can get rezzed mad easily but, should it be? I mean, I don't really see Slayne as a guy who got things done. I just see him as a guy who went, Title - Emperor of the Empire... and despite being pked over and over again, the title remained. My question is, how were slaynes enemies suppose to prevent him from becoming Emperor?

I had several Imperial characters while Slayne was about. One who didn't respect him, and three who did. Slayne was kept Emperor because the characters in the MC let him be. They wanted him to be. It has nothing to do with his enemies at all. The fact is, making a new Emperor that was real and tangible suited the goals of the MC. Or at least that's what it seemed to me at the time I was playing with them.

Well it should have to do with his enemies. I mean it would be nice if you could have an affect on your enemies, via pk. Like I said, otherwise whats even the point?

The point is that there is just as just as much power to be gained through RP than there is through PK. "How are you supposed to prevent him from becoming Emperor?" You have to fight on the same kind of battlefield. Fight through roleplay of your own, swaying or buying off his supporters so that he gets taken down in a coup. Or some plan that is even more creative! Ordinary PK happens a dozen times a day, so few people are going to be swayed by you and your big sword.

Uh.... mass pked? In the records I can view over 18 months of playing died an average of twice a month. He didn't publicly proclaim himself the Emperor until sometime in late 2006. Half of his deaths were before that. I call bullocks. Name the character with which you playerkilled 5 people for every time you were pked.

I understand, but it doesn't seem like there is any power to be gained through pk. It should be the opposite, you can gain some power through rp, but eventually you need to step up and win a few encounters. Your game though, you decide.

See Dulrik's post. Everyday confrontations don't depose emperors.
