Yes, but over a much broader surface area, with a lot more muscles able to, dare I say, shoulder the burden.

Yes! I dare!

Ok, to clarify-

what about the heavy armor containers right now for the waist slot? Like steel scabbards? Those clearly lower your skills if you're a non-heavy armor class, but do they also give you added protection?

If there are steel scabbards for the waist, I feel that they should be bugged. Waist is meant to be an armor slot. If you wear a container on that slot, you are walking around with a completely unarmored belly. Are there people actually wearing that voluntarily right now?

Also, there may indeed be a chainmail coat, but if it is worn about the body, it will not provide you any armor protection, even if it is type armor. That's also what I consider to be a building error.

Yes, the steel scabbard that is sold at the general store in Nerina.

How about that girth of lucent plates that's been in the game forever, that's a container too.

There are tons of waist containers.

But I approve of this, just switch the slots up, any material worn about body, armor class material about waste.

I really don't think this is true.

There are enough reasons to let the belt slot as it is and equally enough to change it. I agree with Cannibal that wearing a heavy backpack and fighting (as a light armor class) is much worse than wearing a heavy belt and fighting. On the other hand there used to be times when fighting classes were looking for adamantite belts (as I have twice pointed out in the past) because sorcerers were using/hoarding some of them. A good solution would be to change the few adamantite/adamantine waist containers out there that have no ac to actual belts. I can think of three at the moment and more that are steel/tanso. Otherwise it will work as a nerf for shamans/rogues/swasies/bards.

edit: The change has already taken place so nevermind. :P

He's thinking of the girth of oval plates.

The change would obviously make sense; I think it'll require, however, some imm to go through hundreds of waist-type containers to modify them.
