Deep-elves are obscenely weak.

When Inzaarid was young he was bombarded with bolts-of-glory, poison and plague and iron every other day.

With cold iron, it's EVEN MORE ANNOYING. I'm waiting for the post of someone using a cold-iron mace on a sprite swashbuckler, though. That'll tickle me.

The weaknesses are great and very easy to exploit--also, magic resistance (yawn) is a joke when it comes to most weapons and spells. Any grandmaster sorcerer can put a deep-elf to sleep as easily as he/she could but a human to sleep. Oh, and you can be charmed. Magical weapons? You'll be raped. You won't ever when a slugfest--You lack the strength.

You can't even really care a full set of heavy armor and the 'extras' without being over the weight penalty limit--has anyone considered that? You nerfed the deep-elf too much. I'll play one for the RP, but it is a heavy price to pay.

[REDACTED]. If you think you're all that, roll a deep-elven mercenary, build them as best you can, and then get into a fight with the Hammer, Paladins, Hellions, Necromancers, Rogues or Sorcerors.

You may win.

You probably won't, though.

Oh, I agree with you there. I wouldn't play a delf outside of caster. Even then, you have a lot of weaknesses to contend with.

Elves don't have it easy either.

Basicly, the moment you run into a hellion or necro, you know you are just going to eat spells.

I swear, its like people have triggers to c hellfire elf or c 'finger of d' elf.

Even Elves get better stats, though. Sure, they have less INT, but the difference isn't that great, where as every other stat is the same or higher. Specifically, they have more DEX and more CON, making them tougher to fight against. Delves go down easier than sprites. And Inzy, that sprite you just mentioned would just parry the hell out of that mace. You want to see that mace used on an unsuspecting caster.

For the record, you don't have to use quotes. c finger works just fine.

Bucklers parry swords and daggers; anything else is easier, even if not that easy, to strike them with.

There's a great number of ways to ward oneself from the deep-elven magical weaknesses. 24 int at creation isn't a joke, some races have to cast a religious/cabal spell to get that much, if that. It is incredibly powerful in all kinds of situations. There are also ways to deal with the iron weakness.

In short, some players ask for diversity, and this is diversity. Some races excel in certain classes than others. Would it be fun if all races can do it all? Did you know that gnomes can be mercenaries and rogues? Does anyone want to come up with well-reasoned arguments to 'balance' that one too?

On the contrary. While delves make absolutely [REDACTED] warriors and perfect casters, elves make [REDACTED] warriors and average to good casters. In truth delves have better stats for caster-specific, and they have the bonus caster class of necro. Elves, on the other hand, only have bard that they excel at, and even there a halfelf in a certain organization will be better.

If I could remake my hellion now I would go deep-elf.

And if you were deepelf you would want to change back to halfelf.

Grass is always greener on the other side man :p
