On the contrary. While delves make absolutely [REDACTED] warriors and perfect casters, elves make [REDACTED] warriors and average to good casters. In truth delves have better stats for caster-specific, and they have the bonus caster class of necro. Elves, on the other hand, only have bard that they excel at, and even there a halfelf in a certain organization will be better.

The difference between a half elf and elf is far less that that of a deep elf. If you can make it as a helf warrior, you can make it as an elf warrior.

And if you were deepelf you would want to change back to halfelf.

Grass is always greener on the other side man :p

Uhhh..no. I would prefer to be deep-elf now, guaranteed. Thanks for the advice, though.

Gilgon does have it right. Hellions are best in one or two specific builds. Standing on the fence with a hellion(half-elf) really hurts the hellion. If you want to go support/secondary combat, go deep-elf. If you want combat, go human. Standing in the middle is not going to help at all.

In my opinion, Cannibal's analysis of hellions is probably the best. Humans are the best melee hellions, half-elves are the best group support hellions, and deep-elves are the best spellcaster hellions.

Also, deep-elves make me cwy. Up the con a liddabit?

Deep-elves need an innate eyepatch, that is all the buffs that they should get.

I think that deep-elves are the best for combat and spellcasting, actually, but we can agree to disagree!

Yes, the build and stats are better.

However, deepleves have certain disadvantages that will make the halfelf actually survive more often in both PK and exploring.

Deep-elves have too low of an hp pool in comparison to humans and helves to be good in straight melee. Their str is also lower making them put out less combat damage. Matter of fact, their strength is quite significantly lower than human strength.

Not to mention that even disregarding stats and saying that they had equal hp pools, delves have a plethora of racial weaknesses that humans just aren't subject to. You can go to any town in pyrathia and very easily grab a weapon, for dirt cheap, that does double damage to delves. That alone makes them less viable in straight combat than humans or even helves.

Delves just lose in melee all around to humans.

Now they do have the one advantage that they can hold a dominate and all their detects and still hellfire or hold a dominate and no spells and not have to worry about taunt making them lose their dominate. I'm pretty sure they can sleep while holding dominate which the other two races can not do.

Delves also have a low charisma which makes intimidate fire far less than a helf's charisma. Thats why I like helves for group support hellions. Intimidate is a huge part of being a hellion and absolutely beats face for group combat and against NPCs.

Now a delf hellion in conjunction with adept skills is something to be feared in the proper hands.
They could be quite decent with harlequin abilties as well.
MC skill set though, I don't really see giving them much of anything in comparison to the other cabals save a tribunal NPC in addition to the dominate. MC skll set really works out well with helves and humans however.

k, im going on a tangent.

bottom line, humans > delves in straight melee

This depends completely on your mentality and preparation. Deep-elves can survive just as well as half-elves. The only drawback is that I would think they would be higher maintenance, but if you enjoy that sort of thing (or at least don't mind it) then deep-elves are superior in most ways.

Note: This is not a class-only evaluation. This is primarily based off of PK prep, as such it assumes the use of buffs and fitting enchantments.

you forget the fact that people often just target whatever deep-elf there is with certain abilities or spells, just like they target an elf.

While in a group, you will at times be hit by spells not because you're the hellion, but because you're a delf (IE c 'bolt of glory' deep-elf'. Yes, you can also c bol, but I prefer to write it all down for everyone to understand.)

Its a general thing with elves and delves. They are born hated and targeted. Your halfelf isn't.
